Drawing dust. Filled and empty dust reservoirs. Archives of the decayed. In search of particles filter stations pause in space. With increasing density the carrier turns to homogenous black. Some form collectives and gather spaced on various heights. There might be a hierarchy. Sensors for the elapsed. Dust reaccumulates on the floor. Forming reflections. The object surveys its alter ego. Voices are deposited in the web. Their words iterate themselves relentlessly. Fractals of the said. They intermingle. Imitations of the other. They speak of the voice, the memory, the synthesizer. Meanwhile the addressee is unknown. Messenger at a domain without limitation. In contrast, the restricted scope of audiotape. Here those present stay among their own kind. Only the dust increases. Words shift further. The noise gets louder. In his exhibition Dust Tape Voice Samuel Schaab explores the noise of a rather ephemeral medium: dust in its many facets and – also metaphorical — forms, as finest particles floating in the air, as granular product of steady decomposition of solid matter, as least fragments of people, plants, utensils and other objects is the raw material for his multifaceted investigation consisting of sculptures and sound. Samuel Schaab (*1981) lives and works in Vienna. He studied Media Art with Bernhard Leitner at the University of Applied Art Vienna and Art and Media at the Zurich University of the Arts. Recently his works were shown at Vienna Contempory art fair, Vienna Josephinum, Art Brussels, TBA21 Vienna, Venice Architecture Biennial, Kunsthaus Mürzuschlag, Dumbo Arts Festival New York, Soulangh Art Center Taiwan, Peripherie Istanbul, Fabrica Moscow. His often site specific installations include sculpture, sound, light and live performance. Currently he also curates the concert series SÄGEZAHN at Schauspielhaus Vienna. In the scope of this exhibition Natalia Domínguez Rangel and Hall (Samuel Schaab & Benjamin Tomasi) will perform at Tresor (Hauptplatz 32, 4020 Linz). The exhibition and concerts are part of the series 0ff0n0ff, the concerts will start at 7pm sharp at Tresor, the exhibition opening starts at 9pm at Memphis.
