Michèle Pagel, born in 1985 in Werdau (Germany), studied sculpture in Leipzig, Milan, and Vienna, graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in 2012. Between 2009 and 2014, she taught sculptural ceramics at the University of Art and Design Linz. Her works can be seen in group and solo exhibitions throughout Europe, including at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Moscow, the Startgalerie at MUSA Vienna, and the Meyer Kainer Gallery. Michèle Pagel lives and works in Vienna.

In the series o.T. (Toast), Pagel's playful and humorous approach to art manifests itself, characterized by a consumer-critical and political stance, as well as art-historical references, such as in this case to Arte Povera. The work playfully appropriates a symbolic set piece of personal reality, deconstructing and translating it into the artistic space.
