TOGETHER, ANYWAY III
with Rainer Komers
Moviemento Cinema Linz
Born 1944 Komers studied Film at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and Photography at the University of the Arts Folkwang in Essen. His artistic conception and preference for restrained aesthetics developing richness of detail made him one of the most autonomous artistic documentary filmmakers. His silent master pieces like “Kobe” (2006) and its American pendant “Milltown, Montana” (2009) received several international awards. His trilogy “Erdbewegung” (2006), showing life alongside major roads, namely the “B224” in German Ruhr region, the intricate “Nome Road System” in Alaska and the Indian highway “NH2” was internationally acclaimed. His full-length documentaries “Erinnerungen an Rheinhausen” and “Ofen aus” skilfully captured the structural changes, changing life and landscape in North Rhine-Westphalia forever.
All over the world, in Alaska, Montana, Ecuador, India, Japan or Yemen Komers finds places in state of flux, discovering unshaped beauty even in decay.
In the framework of “together, anyway”, Komers will show some of his works in person.
